Ruth Balicki was the oldest sister in the Balickis household. She likes to teach other children, she wants to have the same job as her father and she is the bravest out of her brother and sister. Ruth Balicki is a smart, elegant and flexible person. She is mostly calm in a time of trouble and she finds a way to survive the situation. She a has a responsibility to look after her little sister "Bronia" and her little brother "Edek"
Edek Balicki is the only son of Joseph Balicki. He lived in Poland when the Germans attacked, but he got caught while he was sending food to the other families on the border. He is 14 years old, he went to a gun training camp for boys to practice shooting with a rifle. He wants to become an engineer when he grows up for a job.
Bronia Balicki was a young girl with a sense of joy and happiness. She likes to draw anything she sees e.g. old ruins, refugees etc. She is kind and very nice. She likes to share things and love to hug and hold to Ruth hand. Bronia has a personality of Ruth. Bronia usually under stands the situation and likes to ask interesting questions to Ruth and Edek
Jan is a 10-11 year old boy, who lived in Warsaw just like the Balickis. He has a habit of stealing items from other people and loves to lie to the strangers. He can run very, very fast and he is very good at hiding from other people. He hate any type of soldier there is. He has a box, which belong to him, to keep his precious "treasures" he calls them. He owns two animals: a cat and a cock named Jimpy. He doesn't have a family. He really wants to be in the Balickis family in Switzerland. He doesn't like to share items, he is rude and is a little bit mean.
